The Space Battleship Yamato series got a novel titled Uchū Senkan Yamato: Reimei-hen Aquarius Algorithm that launched on Monday. Yūya Takashima wrote the story, and Ryuji Umeno illustrated the work. Shoji Nishizaki was a supervisor. Yoshinobu Nishizaki is credited with the original work, and Asteroid 6 is credited for cooperation.
The novel’s story takes place between the Final Yamato and Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection films. Twelve years after the space battleship sank in the sea of Aquarius, Susumu Kodai and the crew of the Yamato encounter an unknown enemy.
The novel includes a chronological timeline of the history of the Yamato and the planet Aquarius as well as a mechanic file by Shinji Nishikawa.
Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection opened in Japan in December 2009, and it was the first film in the Yamato space opera franchise in 26 years. The film is set in 2220, or 21 years after the first Yamato story and 17 years after the story of the last film, Final Yamato. A 320,000-kilometer-wide black hole threatens Earth, so 300 million people set a course for Amaaru, 27,000 light years away. The transport fleet is attacked, and the new Yamato battleship leads the counterstrike. 38-year-old Susumu Kodai, the hero of the first series, is now a space captain, and he has a daughter named Miyuki with his wife Yuki (the heroine of the first series). The Final Yamato film opened in Japan in 1983.
Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Zenshō -TAKE OFF-, the first of two planned films for the Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi (Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage) sequel project will open in Japan on October 8. As in prior films in the remake series, a special edition Blu-ray Disc of the film will be immediately available for purchase at the same time as the theatrical opening date, alongside digital cels, with a separate edition Blu-ray Disc and DVD release slated for November 26.
Drawing its motifs from the 1979 television special Space Battleship Yamato: The New Voyage, the new two-film project’s story begins three years after the war with the White Comet Empire. Kodai now commands the battleship Yamato with a new crew as they face another battle.
