Toei Animation, Fathom Events Screen One Piece Film Strong World in U.S. Theaters in November

Screening available in dub, subtitles, celebrates 1,000th episode of anime

Toei Animation and Fathom Events announced on Monday that they will hold a special theatrical screening of the One Piece Film Strong World anime film to celebrate the upcoming 1,000th episode of the One Piece anime. The film will screen with the English dub on November 7, and with English subtitles on November 9, in select theaters in the United States. The screening will also include the United States premiere of the 2011 One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase film.

Toei Animation and Fathom Events describe the film:

There’s gonna be a rumble in the jungle in “One Piece Film: Strong World” – an original One Piece movie written by creator Eiichiro Oda! When the Straw Hats catch wind of trouble in the peaceful waters of the East Blue, they quickly set a course for home! But before they reach their destination, fate leads them into the deadly path of Golden Lion Shiki. This gravity-defying madman needs a navigator, and he wants Nami! Shiki scatters the Straw Hats across the far corners of a floating island filled with ferocious, genetically-mutated monsters, and issues Nami and ultimatum: join his crew – or her friends die! BIG mistake. Luffy kicks his attack mode into Third Gear and begins a brutal rampage across the beast-ridden island. It’s all hands on deck – including a new character – for this watershed adventure in the One Piece canon. Monkey vs. Lion. Winner gets the navigator!

One Piece Film Strong World opened in Japan in 2009. Funimation released the film on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2013.

The 1,000th episode of the One Piece anime will debut on November 14. Eiichiro Oda published the 1,000th chapter of the original manga in this year’s combined 5th/6th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on January 4.
